France: Peugeot connects its cars with Huawei 2017-11-27
PSA, the owner of Peugeot, Citroën, DS and the youngest brands Opel and Vauxhall, does not intend to stay on the platform of connected car and mobility services.
During the Mobility Talks, held on November 14, the car manufacturer listed a long list of online services to "support its customers daily" and facilitate "access to mobility». These services allow you to set up and buy your vehicle, sell your used car, buy spare parts and have them delivered, find a garage, all online.
Finally, the Free2Move application is a kind of aggregator giving the possibility to find the most appropriate means of transport of the moment (bike, scooter, and car).
But the event of these Mobility Talks remains the arrival of Eric XU, CEO of Huawei, the Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer. It has announced a technological partnership with PSA on the connectivity of vehicles of the French group
A connected universal platform:
The two partners will develop a modular platform called the Connected Vehicle Modular Platform (CVMP). Thanks to the latter, it will be possible, via a dedicated cloud, to perform Over The Air (OTA) updates on the vehicle's software, on navigation, infotrafic, but also to activate remote functions. Like the car's diagnosis, check the battery charge or preheat the cabin.
To another extent, this connected platform will be used for car sharing services or the management of company fleets.
Finally, PSA thinks to create a personal voice assistant based on artificial intelligence just like what can be proposed by some car manufacturers such as BMW or Seat.
