Morocco: Faurecia inaugurates a new plant 2017-07-13
Faurecia inaugurated on Thursday 13 July a car seat factory in Morocco whose products are mainly intended for Peugeot and Opel vehicles manufactured in France.
The site, located in Salé, near Rabat, employs 1,300 people, a workforce that will potentially rise to 1,800 people, the automotive supplier said in a statement.
The plant, has been operational since March, the latter required an investment of 170 million dirham (about 16 million Euros). Each day, it produces 10.000 leathers and textiles seats covers for the SUV Peugeot 3008 and Opel GrandLand X, the assembly of which has been entrusted to the Sochaux site, and for the large SUV Peugeot 5008, also assembled in France at Rennes.
A third site for 2018
Faurecia, which now has two seats plants in Morocco - Kenitra since 2009 and now Salé - also announced its intention to open a third industrial site in 2018 for its "domestic" activities and "clean mobility" (emission control). It will also be located in Kenitra, where PSA launched last month the construction of its future automotive plant.
