Algeria: Higer buses will leave factory in February 2018 2017-08-22
From passenger cars and utility vehicles, Algeria switches to bus production. This project was carried out by the Algerian partner of the Chinese manufacturer Higer, he promises that the first units will be released in February.
According to Ahmed Mazouz, owner of the eponymous group, which holds 100% of the shares of the factory, "the construction of the plant comes to an end. There are six months left. Work began 16 months ago. The production will start in February 2018, "he said.
Based in Setif on an area of 20 hectares, the Higer factory will manufacture spare parts for the assembly units of the Chinese brand in Africa. "It's a factory that will manufacture CKD systems for all of the brand's plants in Africa. Its annual capacity is 3,000 buses, all models combined, 60% of which are destined for the Algerian market, "Mazouz explains, adding that the investment required for the construction of this plant is 80 million Euros. »We will create 1,200 direct jobs," says Mazouz. The Higer buses, imported by the Mazouz group, have already been on Algerian roads for several years. "We hold 90% of market share. The Higer buses are considered reliable. »
Even before starting production, the Mazouz group already has a full order book. "We will be the supplier of the largest carrier in Algeria. The Tahkout group will purchase the first 1,200 buses, "says Ahmed Mazouz.
Founded in 1998 and specialized in the production and marketing of buses, the company Jinlong, holder of the Higer brand, is present on all continents. The company, which now has nearly $ 1 billion of revenues, offers more than 50 types of vehicles, including buses and cars, in the areas of public transport, tourism and school transportation.
For many years, Jinlong has been looking to expand its market abroad, and in September 2006, the A80 buses started to be exported in cooperation with the Swedish brand Scania . Today, the Higer buses are visible not only in the Chinese streets, but also in Central Asia, South-East Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and In Central America.
