Ukrainian automaker Ukravauto and ZAZ plan to set up a plant in the governorate of Bizerte to manufacture ZAZ cars and trucks for the African (90%) and local (10%) markets, well informed sources said to Africanmanager that the investor of this project is subject to many pressures exerted by certain parties who want the latter to relocate the implementation of his project to other regions.

These same sources add that several senior officials in many regions of the Republic have contacted the Ukrainian investor while offering him numerous offers, benefits and facilitated to encourage him to change the location of the implementation of this project.

Founded in 1908, the factory manufactured agricultural vehicles before going into car production in 1960. The first model produced by ZAZ is a copy of Fiat 600, called ZAZ 965.
