BMW: growing success for the electrification. 2017-08-17
The BMW Group published its sales figures for the first seven months of 2017. With 1,401,551 units, overall growth was 4.3% compared to the same period in 2016. This increase hides a very significant increase in registrations of electrified vehicles.
Between the BMW and Mini brands, the German group has sold 50,711 hybrid and electric vehicles since last January and is thus the third largest manufacturer of electric and rechargeable hybrids worldwide.
An exponential progression
it should be said that in recent months the group has put on the market several innovations like the Mini Countryman Cooper SE and the BMW 5 Series iPerformance, and now includes nine electrified cars in its catalog.
The company intends to continue in this direction with the arrival of the i8 Roadster and then a Mini electric three-door and an X3 "zero emission", among others, waiting for the iNext or Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
In addition to the 100% electric models, each car in the group's range could soon offer at least a rechargeable hybrid version. By 2025, BMW believes that electrified vehicles will represent 15 to 25% of its sales.
