We talk about generic and adaptable auto parts when it comes to a new one, more or less faithful copy of an original part, which is installed in the same location as the original part but is not sold in the packaging of the car manufacturer concerned. It is not an infringement since the manufacturer has not sought to mislead consumers as to the fact that the part is of origin, but the quality of the piece and its real adaptability is often very variable.

Part of adaptable parts available on the market are in fact copies less reliable than the original parts. There are good, sure, but you'll never know precisely what you will find if you buy online. Among the surprises: low strength, fast wear, or slightly different dimensions than the original.

But the price of occasions ones has been often lower (2-3 times), if not equal, to that of adaptable parts. So you have for your money while ensuring quality.

The adaptable piece available mainly when it comes to body or other very generic elements, but less for mechanical parts. Again, the market opportunity is an interesting choice. It contains more specific parts, small parts of the dashboard to hardware...

Another advantage of the original part which we do not always think to check that the piece is identical to the one you want to replace. If you buy your generic room on the net, you are likely to go wrong.

 

The flexibility of the seller

If you order a door on the internet, you just get the door frame. You have to buy all parts (glass, mirror...) which normally make up. If you buy used, there are great chances that the case the entire car you sell, allowing you, for example already mounted mirror for the same price.
