Bosch has just presented a concept-car that illustrates its vision of tomorrow's car to customizable cockpit. An ultra connected vehicle. Its environment is able to assist the driver beyond driving. Life on board becomes a new experience.
According to Bosh, the automobile remains the third living space, between the home and the office. This is one of the reasons why the supplier intends to interconnect our vehicles to our environment.
To show his vision of the smart car of tomorrow, Bosch has introduced a concept car where customization and ease of use of the vehicle are the key words. Here a "Driver Monitor Camera" identifies the driver and adjusts the steering wheel, mirrors and temperature of the passenger compartment accordingly. In addition, the car fits the choice of colors of display and automatically loads the next time, the last podcasts and navigation that the driver programmed while he was still at home.
The Vigilant Camera
The camera is able to detect fatigue and hypo vigilance by analyzing the movements of the eyelids. The system determines the driver's ability to concentrate or fatigue and warns him if necessary. It also monitors the movements that the driver prints at the steering wheel in order to intervene directly in case of sudden movements.
The interface between the man and the vehicle, a real personal assistant, provides important information to the driver at the right time and accompanies him vigilantly in all situations. The concept car is equipped with a haptic feedback gesture control. The latter uses ultrasonic sensors which produce a noticeable resistance when the driver makes a move in the area monitored by the camera.
A touch screen of a new kind offers a further comfort and security. At each contact between the finger of the driver and the screen, the latter gives him a haptic return by vibrating. On a plane surface, the driver feels different structures he perceives as real buttons.
Digital life on board
As soon as the car "knows" that automated driving is possible, and the driver agrees to transfer responsibility, the car takes control, smoothly and safely. As the concept car is also an active element of the Internet of things, the driver can lead his digital life aboard the vehicle: send e-mails to the office or chat with friends for example. With a simple gesture, the driver can switch from one display to another: E-mails, chats, videos or even automated and connected functions.
Stay connected with your house as well as your parking spot
Mykie, the culinary assistant of Bosch, can suggest recipes online. From the car, it is possible to consult the refrigerator connected to check if the driver has the necessary ingredients. The interconnection of the car with the intelligent house allows the driver to check the condition of his home, which appears on the screen. Is a window still open? Is the door locked? A gesture or a simple press of finger on the screen allows the home to lock automatically and the surveillance is triggered.
The connected car is also connected to the workshop. It informs the driver of the next visit to plan and makes an appointment on request, thus ensuring the presence of spare parts.
This level of comfort also applies to the search for a parking space: with the dedicated Bosch service, based on the community, the cars themselves signal the free locations along the road by means of sensors. The information is then transferred to a digital map of the parking locations via the cloud, and made available to other vehicles.
