Algeria: 9 German companies in Algiers in September 2017-08-21
The automotive industry is one of the priorities of the Ouyahia government for Algeria. After Renault, German carmaker Volkswagen inaugurated its car assembly plant in Algeria last July with an investment of more than 170 million Euros.
In order to pursue this initiative, a business trip and B2B meetings in the field of the automotive industry and spare parts between German and Algerian companies will be held from 26 to 28 September in Algiers by the Algerian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK).
A journey which, according to the AHK's clarification, enters "as part of a project to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) financed by the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy (BMWi)" .
The 9 German companies that land in Algiers represent manufacturers and traders of batteries and accumulators, electrolyte capacitors, assembly robots, special lubricants for cables, and spare parts for passenger cars and utility vehicles, and control units.
A company specialized in the manufacturing of auto body parts and vehicles and a training center for automotive employees will also be part of the delegation ". Moreover, AHK recalls that "the event is a part of projects financing within the market development program for German SMEs by the German Federal Ministry for Economy and Energy (BMWi) for SMEs and is based on a decision of the German Bundestag.
The specifications impose an integration rate of 15% for automotive companies over 3 years and 45% for the next 5 years, the sector finds it difficult to find subcontractors to achieve a rate of 100,000 vehicles per year. Between the two governments, Algerian and German, it was decided to carry out in Algeria a platform for exporting models of Volkswagen brand to countries of the African continent and other regions of the world.
